The spray tan solution consists of DHA (dihydroxyacetone) which is a white powder created from sugar and bronzer. Bronzer is the color you see immediately; which is designed to match the future tan. Usually made from food coloring.
Your tan will continue to develop for 12 hours max after being sprayed. After 12 hours, it will stop developing (getting darker). The longer it sets, the darker it will become. After 12 hours from getting your spray tan, you will RINSE (not wash) your body. You will see the bronzer rinsing off. Do not worry; the DHA is still on your skin which means your color will still develop.
It's critical to stay dry for the next 12 hours after your spray tan. Coming into direct contact with water or any liquid (such as lotions/creams/sprays) can and will cause color loss/streaking. Friction to the skin can disrupt your tan as well. Avoid excessive scratching, rubbing and moving around. Avoid tight clothes for 12 hours.
